University of Delaware Blue Hens

Students have been named to the University of Delaware Dean's List for the Fall 2018 semester.

This summer, more than 150 UD undergraduate students have worked on a range of research projects in disciplines all across the university as well as in the community. Over the past 10 weeks, they have collaborated with their faculty mentors and, in many cases, with other undergraduates and with graduate students, learning how original research takes place and creating new knowledge themselves.

Students have been named to the University of Delaware Dean's List for the Spring 2018 semester.

University of Delaware senior Jordan Cargile was named Colonial Athletic Association Pitcher of the Week for the second consecutive week, the conference announced Monday.

University of Delaware senior Jordan Cargile was named Colonial Athletic Association Pitcher of the Week, the conference announced Monday. Cargile picked up her fifth and sixth wins of the season this weekend, as the Blue Hens notched two road victories over UNCW. Cargile gave up just one run on seven hits while striking out four batters in a complete game effort during Saturday's 5-1 victory over the Seahawks. She then allowed three runs (two earned) on five hits in Sunday's 4-3 victory that kept Delaware in contention for a CAA Tournament berth. The leader of the Blue Hen pitching squad, Cargile leads the team with six wins this season and improved to 25-28 in her career. Her 117 career appearances in the circle are third most in school history, while her five saves are tied for sixth most by a Blue Hen.

Blue Hen sophomore Ariane Klotz was named the Colonial Athletic Association Women's Golfer of the Week, the conference announced Thursday. Klotz tied for sixth place at the UNF Collegiate on March 5th-6th after carding a one over par 71-71-75-217 on the par 72, 5,926-yard Jacksonville Golf & Country Club course in Jacksonville, Fla. Klotz posted her fifth top 10 finish in seven tournaments this season, and recorded the second lowest three-round score of her career. She led the Blue Hens to a seventh place finish in the team standings at the UNF Collegiate. Klotz earned the third CAA Women's Golfer of the Week award for her career, including her second this season.

Freshman catcher Chayanna Gallardo was named the Colonial Athletic Association Softball Rookie of the Week after an impressive performance over the weekend at the Liberty Classic. Gallardo batted .308 and went 4 for 13 with a team-leading three doubles in the Blue Hens' five games at the tournament. She singled home a run on Friday vs. Liberty, and added an RBI double on Saturday vs. 12th-ranked Baylor. Gallardo contributed two doubles and an RBI in Sunday's 4-2 win over Ohio University. Gallardo has appeared in all 18 games while starting 16 as a catcher and designated player for the Blue Hens, batting .213 with 10 hits, three doubles and four RBI.

Freshman Christian Chapman was named the Colonial Athletic Association Men's Golfer of the Week, the conference announced March 14. Chapman tied for 10th place in the individual standings March 12 and 13 at the USF Invitational after firing a four over par 74-74-76-224 on the par 72, 7,004-yard Tampa Palms Golf & Country Club course. He helped lead the Blue Hens to a seventh-place finish in the team standings. Chapman has appeared in six tournaments for the Blue Hens this season, averaging 75.39 strokes per round. The award is the first weekly conference honor for Chapman.

Sophomore guard Ryan Daly was selected Third Team All-CAA as the league announced its all-conference teams on Friday. Daly earned third team All-CAA honors for the second year in a row after leading the Blue Hens and ranking 10th in the conference with a 17.5 scoring average. He has reached double figures in all but one game this season including 26 straight, and has posted his 10th 20-point effort of the year. Daly already ranks 34th in Delaware history with 1,000 career points, and is just the third Blue Hen to surpass the 1,000-point mark during his first two seasons in Newark.

Freshman guard Ryan Allen was named the Colonial Athletic Association Men's Basketball Rookie of the Year. Allen becomes the fifth player in Blue Hen history to earn conference Rookie of the Year honors, including the second in a row after Daly claimed the award last season. Allen is the ninth Blue Hen to be chosen for the CAA All-Rookie Team, and was joined on the squad by Darius Banks and Matt Lewis of James Madison, Tomas Murphy of Northeastern and Jalen Ray of Hofstra. Allen appeared in the final 30 games of the season while starting the last 22 contests. He ranks second on the team and 14th in the CAA by averaging 15.3 points per game. Allen's 86 three-pointers this year are tied for the UD single season mark, second most by a CAA freshman in league history, and fifth most among Division I freshmen this year. Allen has reached double figures in 25 of the last 28 games including 16 straight, and has recorded six 20-point outings on the season.

Freshman guard Ryan Allen was named CAA Men's Basketball Rookie of the Week on Monday. Allen averaged 24.0 points and 4.0 rebounds on the week, leading the team in scoring during both of the Blue Hens' contests. He posted his third and fourth 20-point efforts of the year, including a 22-point performance on Thursday vs. Towson where he also knocked down eight three-pointers, shot 5 of 7 from behind the arc, and tied his career high with four assists. Allen then added a career-high 26 points on Saturday at Elon, reaching double figures for the ninth straight game. The freshman guard has hit a three-pointer in all 22 games in which he has appeared, tied for the third longest streak in school history. Allen is ninth in the country for three-pointers among freshmen with 62 on the season, which is also six shy of the UD single season freshman record.

Allen averaged 19.0 points during the Blue Hens' two wins the previous week, leading the team in scoring both games. He scored a season-high 24 points, the most by a Blue Hen this season, and knocked down six three-pointers in the Blue Hens' 97-96 overtime win over Cornell on Dec. 28. Allen then added 14 points, including four second half triples, in Delaware's 58-56 triumph at UNCW on Dec. 30. The freshman guard also added four rebounds, four assists and four steals on the week.

Freshman guard Kevin Anderson was named the Colonial Athletic Association Men's Basketball Rookie of the Week on Dec. 18 and Dec. 26. Anderson scored 12 points and led the Blue Hens with a season-high 12 rebounds to post his first career double-double in Delaware's 68-59 overtime win at Delaware State on Dec. 17. He added two steals and an assist in 41 minutes of action, and scored the first basket of the extra session that put the Blue Hens in front for good. The freshman guard led Delaware with 22 points and tied his season-high with four three-pointers in the Blue Hens' 76-62 home victory over CSU Bakersfield on Dec. 20. He went 7 of 11 from the field while adding six rebounds, three assists, two blocks and a steal in 35 minutes of action. Anderson, who reached double figures eight times this season including the last three contests. He averaged 13.7 points and 4.9 rebounds per game, a 1.8 assist/turnover ratio, 2.9 assists per game and 33.2 minutes played per game. Anderson has appeared in and started in 11 games this season before suffering a season-ending knee injury.

Freshman guard Ryan Allen was named the Colonial Athletic Association Men's Basketball Rookie of the Week, the conference announced Monday. Allen averaged 13.5 points during the Blue Hens' two games last week, and has reached double figures in three straight contests. Allen currently ranks fourth on the team by averaging 11.6 points per game, and has hit nine of his 11 free throw attempts on the year.

University of Delaware swimmer Kevin Basch (Pottstown, Pa./Pottsgrove) was named Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) Swimmer of the Week on Wednesday. The sophomore comes off a strong performance against La Salle University and Rider University Saturday in Philadelphia, where he finished first in the 500 freestyle (4:39.83) for the second consecutive week. Basch then took the top spot in the 1000 freestyle (9:35.72).

Maria Bellinger Named To All-CAA Volleyball Third Team

Blue Hens junior captain John Schroeder was named to the All-CAA first Team while four other UD players earned third team recognition. Schroeder (Houston, Texas/YSC Academy), a three-year starter for the Blue Hens, was named to the All-CAA second team and the CAA All-Tournament Team a season ago. The defender was also named to the All-CAA Rookie Team in 2015. This season, Schroeder scored a goal and tallied three assists for the Hens in 16 games.

Four Blue Hens Named Longstreth/NFHCA All-Region Honorees

Enabosi helped guide Delaware to a 2-1 week by averaging a double double of 22.0 points and 13.7 rebounds while shooting 70 percent (24-of-34) from the field for the week of Nov. 13-20. The forward added six blocks and 10 assists for the Hens.

University of Delaware guard Ryan Daly was named the Colonial Athletic Association Men's Basketball Player of the Week on Monday after leading the Blue Hens to their season-opening win at Richmond. Daly scored a game-high 22 points on 9 of 14 shooting during the 76-63 triumph over the Spiders on Friday, while adding four rebounds and two assists in 37 minutes of action.

Delaware freshman Riley Dixon was named to the 2017 Colonial Athletic Association All-Rookie Team. Dixon scored a pair of goals and tallied two assists this season.

Junior Ashley Dingman was named the Colonial Athletic Association Women's Golfer of the Week on Wednesday after her outstanding performance at the Delaware Invitational last weekend. Dingman earned medalist honors at the Blue Hens' home tournament on Saturday and Sunday, posting a two-shot victory with a two under par 73-73-68-214 on the par 72, 6,180-yard course at Rehoboth Beach Country Club. Dingman, who earned her first career individual title, fired the second lowest 54-hole score in Blue Hen history. Her final round 68 also is tied for the second lowest round in UD history.

Sophomore guard Ryan Daly was selected second team All-CAA during the league's media day on Wednesday.

Nauck broke the program record for goals in Sunday's 8-1 victory at Columbia. Her four goals marked just the eighth time in program history that a Blue Hen has scored at least four goals in a contest. With her 60 career goals, Nauck also entered the Top 10 in the CAA record books and currently sits tied for eighth alongside Drexel's Christina Mastropaolo. She is also fourth among the NCAA's active career goals leaders.
